Newsflash
Hi All

I have been sent on a mission to sort out our “vault” at the tea pottery in devon. What a find! There are lots of teapots there that are well known to all of you teapot collectors. I am therefore going to feature one of our “vault” teapots a week for our enthusiasts who might need that elusive teapot to complete their collection.
One of the first teapots that I came across is one of Paul’s most famous teapots - the “Toy Box”. This is a large limited edition teapot and has a rag doll on the front. When Paul first bought out the teapot in 1991, it had a “gollywog” sitting in the front drawer. Then of course, everything became very ”p.c.” and the ”gollywog” had to be changed to a rag doll. The last time that we had one of these teapots in our auctions at Bovey Tracey, it went for an amazing £300.00!
This is a lovely teapot and, if anybody is interested, do please let me know - sharon@cardewdesign.com

Hello Cardew Club,
I recently saw this newsflash about the Paul Cardew “Toy Box” teapot. I have one with the Golliwog, in perfect condition. I understand that this teapot was in a limited edition of 1000. On the base of my teapot it just has the two red half circles mark and in red letters round this, Cardew Design; there are no other marks to the base that indicate this might be a limited edition teapot of Number X of 1000.
Could you confirm that this mark is the only mark for this limited edition teapot.
Thank you,
Anna
