Victorian tea at Fogg Homestead

A Victorian Tea will be held on Sunday, Dec. 9, at the historic Fogg Homestead, adjacent to the William Fogg Library.

The tea will benefit the library’s endowment campaign. Seatings are at 2 p.m., 3 p.m. and 4 p.m., and tickets are $10. The tea will feature an array of sandwiches, elegant desserts and beverages.

Tickets may be purchased at the William Fogg Library, or by calling the library at (207) 439-9437. Because of space constraints, you must purchase a ticket for a specific seating time. Advance ticket purchase is recommended.

‘Ghosts of Abu Ghraib’ program
PORTSMOUTH — South Church will host a screening Sunday, Dec. 9, of the HBO film “Ghosts of Abu Ghraib” on the treatment of prisoners followed by a discussion led by the Rev. Roberta Finkelstein. The program begins at 7 p.m. at the church, 292 State St.

The event marks International Human Rights Day. A core principle of Unitarian Universalism is affirming the worth and dignity of every person. Participants will consider how to uphold this principle and American values in times of war and in an era of global terrorism.

The event is free and open to the public. The film contains explicit images of scenes from Abu Ghraib and is rated for mature audiences. The film and study guide for the discussion were provided by the ACLU. Refreshments will be served.

Local Audubon meeting Dec. 12
RYE — The monthly meetings of the Seacoast Chapter of N.H. Audubon are held at the Seacoast Science Center at Odiorne Point in Rye.

This month’s meeting will begin with refreshments at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 12. The program follows at 7:30 p.m. The science center’s administrators will review their updated mission.

The chapter regularly meets on the second Wednesday of each month. The science center is located at Odiorne Point State Park, 570 Ocean Blvd.

Con Tutti presents solstice concert
Portsmouth — Celebrate the solstice in song with the 100 voices of Con Tutti.

Con Tutti, directed by Joanne Connolly, will perform at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15 at South Church, 292 State St.

Songs of the season from around the world will herald in the turning toward the light with “Wings Over Winter”; Zulu songs from South Africa, Yoroba songs from West African, songs in Swahili from Kenya, African American Spirituals, traditional carols from France, England and Germany.
