Unique prototype teapots for auction, signed by Paul Cardew

You will soon have the chance to buy a complete set of one-off prototype teapots and other ornaments based on the lovable and highly collectable characters of “Wallace and Gromit”.

These pieces are the original designs, produced by Paul Cardew in the Cardew Design Studio based in Devon and officially commissioned by Aardman Animations.

As an accompaniment to the upcoming film, these teapots are designed with “Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of Were-Rabbit” as inspiration, bound to appeal to teapot collectors and Wallace and Gromit fans alike. Officially commissioned Aardman, and available for sale in the Cardew Club online shop, Paul Cardew is now going to be putting up for auction the orginal prototype pottery designs. Very soon you will have the chance to bid on these unique items, which will be individually signed by Paul Cardew.

The General Assembly’s decision to appropriate $400,000 for a teapot museum in Sparta has stirred up a lively debate over public priorities. The project has been criticized as a waste of tax dollars and a flagrant example of pork-barrel spending.

As often happens with controversies about culture, the more outspoken critics appear to be basing their opinions on minimal information. But in this case, it’s not hard to understand their concerns. After all, teapots haven’t played any significant role in the state’s history, and they probably aren’t on too many Top 10 lists.
