Following on from previous newsletters, I am writing again to feature another one of the teapots that we have stashed away in the Vault.

This teapot is a great favourite of mine. After many years of Paul Cardew working alongside Disney with regard to their amazing teapots, Paul wanted to commemorate the re-release of “Dumbo” the film. This teapot was therefore born and it is wonderful. The teapot shows “Dumbo” getting ready for his big entrance in the Big Tent with “Timothy Mouse” being his eyes (and big ears!) This teapot is part of a limited edition.
Teapot works steeped in creativity
An exhibition opening May 12 at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts challenges the notion teapots must be short and stout with a handle and a spout.
The vessels in the invitational show “Teatime: The Art of the Teapot” range from nursery-rhyme conventional to outside-the-pot artistic, such as a tiny teapot that looks like a girl sitting on a log and a shrine to this iconic vessel that hangs on the wall, said Paul Flickinger, chairman of the multi-dimensional show. The exhibit includes 150 works by as many artists from around the country, including 16 from Michigan (none are from the Grand Rapids area).
Tea becoming hottest drink in town
By Joel Brown, Globe Correspondent
Tea is hot north of Boston. Not quite boiling, but, like, 205 degrees — hot enough to make the flavor open up.
Joanne Buck, who has become a regular, carries a copy of the menu and checks off each of the 86 teas and tea drinks as she tries them.
‘’I just decided in my life, it was time for weaning off hot coffee, and this just opened up for me,” Buck said.
Teatogo(R) Highlights Bebo Plastik Innovation
RPC Bebo Plastik has developed an innovative lid in conjunction with Hälssen & Lyon, one of Europe’s leading tea manufacturers, that solves the traditional problem of what to do with tea bags during ‘on the go’ drinking.
Hälssen & Lyon’s research suggests that out-of-house tea consumption represents nearly 50% of the market. Yet tea has traditionally suffered next to coffee, due to the inconvenience caused by discarding the tea bag once the tea is brewed.

Teapot show lets artists’ creativity boil over

Larry Spears’ craft suits people to a tea.
An afternoon tea, perhaps.
His teapots, part of his pottery for some 30 years, highlight creative décor while remaining solidly functional.
So his efforts are simultaneously beautiful and dutiful.
“It started as a hobby,” said Spears, speaking at his studio near Story in Brown County. “And then it turned into something more.”
Two of Spears’ porcelain efforts will be part of the multi-artist teapot show, “Spouting Off,” opening today at Columbus’ Gallery 423.
Retired Teapots
Hi Guys
Me - yet again!
I am letting you know about another teapot that I have found stashed away in the vault. This is a large “China Market Stall”!
This teapot was produced in 1993 with a limited editon size of 1000 pieces and was retired in 1997. In fact, only 866 pieces were ever made so this is one of Paul’s rarer teapots.
